Download Spybot Software
or Spyware Doctor

Many PC users do not have the faintest clue that they even have spyware. When pop-ups start becoming troublesome, they simply install a pop-up blocker and then proceed to use their credit card at an online site.

This is a very unsafe practice – but Spyware Doctor can save you from a lot of trouble.

There are several indications that you might have spyware, or adware-”ad-delivery software” – which, for these purposes, they can be considered one in the same.

And boy, here are some examples of what might happen…

  • Your browser (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Firefox, Opera, what have you) is running much slower than user. Whether it be while starting up, loading pages, closing, your browser´s response time is a strong indicator of PC health.
  • Mysterious desktop icons like “Play Online Casino” or “Shop Now” might be traces of spyware. If there is an icon on your desktop that you do not recognize, you might want to open you Add or Remove Programs function and uninstall anything you do not recognize.
  • Excess pop-ups (especially on pages that do not normally have pop-ups such as yahoo.com or msn.com) are usually spyware residue.
  • Extra buttons or toolbars in your browser, especially extra search bars.
  • A new homepage popping up when you start your browser (one that was not previously there).

Spyware is one of the hottest buzz words out there. There is a sea of spyware scan and removal tools available at the hands of internet-ready user.

These tools make it easy to remove that tricky, malicious software known as spyware. Removal can be equally as tricky without the use of a proper tool. That is what I hope to teach and educate about, in this letter.

Spyware and adware are usually interchangeable terms. They both gather statistics about your computer usage (such as the websites you visit, the programs you own, the amount of time you spend on the computer) and send this data to a third party site and/or deliver you ads based on this information.

This is an invasion of privacy and can be hazardous to your confidential data (such as credit card numbers and other banking information).

What is the best anti-spyware software?

Please note that there are a HUGE number of so-called “anti-spyware” spoof programs out there that instead of removing the adware and spyware on your PC, install their own or try to stop real anti-spyware programs from working.

Some of the most “popular” fake anti-spyware programs include: SpyAxe, Antivirus Gold, Spy Trooper, Spy Wiper, Spy Sheriff, Spy Falcon, PSGuard, PAL Spyware Remover, Spy Ban, Win Fixer, World Anti Spy and several others.

Make sure you avoid the above programs – and before downloading any anti-spyware program, do some research on it beforehand in order to make sure it’s not fake.

Some of the tested anti-spyware programs that work, include:

Spyware Doctor also recently received “the best results overall” and gained top ranking of number 1 out of the 10 in a recent review by the top French publication “Micro Hebdo”.

David Flynn from the Sydney Morning Herald reviewed the latest version of Spyware Doctor (V3.8) in an anti-spyware round-up. Up against all the most popular anti-spyware solutions, Spyware Doctor was dubbed as “one of the best.”

Spyware Doctor awarded by PC Magazine! After being awarded the prestigious Editor’s Choice Award, Spyware Doctor has been further acclaimed with the “Best of the Year 2005″ in the anti-spyware category!

P.S. If you do not care about all the fuzz and the details about the different anti-spyware software, just simply start the free scan now with Spyware Doctor. This software is the #1 most highly rated and downloaded anti-spyware software on CNet.com.

Sincerely,

Nils Rognerud

Thank you for your attention.

* * * How do I Remove Spyware * * *

The quickest and safest way to remove spyware is to follow these steps:

  1. Download and install Spyware Doctor from our web site.
  2. Follow the instructions when asked during the install process
  3. Click on the “Smart Update” link in the upper right corner of the Spyware Doctor program, to make sure you have the latest spyware definitions. It changes daily…
  4. Click on “Start Scan” button in the left side of the program. Make sure “Full System Scan” is selected for the first scan, then click “Start Scan” button on the lower side of Spyware Doctor.
  5. The scan might take 15-30 minutes to complete, depending on the speed of your computer. Then review a list of infections on your computer.

That’s all there is to it.

Peace.

Spybot Search and Destroy is a barebones program and is hardly worth the download. — But, if you do not believe me; I invite you to download Spybot and test it for yourself. Make sure you test it alongside with Spyware Doctor – which is the highest-rated commercial anti-spyware program on the market. You then decide…

  • Its like you read my mind! You seem to know so much about this, like you wrote the book in it or something. I think that you could do with some pics to drive the message home a bit, but instead of that, this is excellent blog. A great read. I’ll certainly be back.

I have downloaded AVAST and it seems to work fine, cleaning up a computer that had been without protection for 5 months. My question, do I still need a spyware software and will spyware doctor interfere with AVAST or will it work as a counter point and protector with AVAST? Thank you.
    Mike

    • admin says:

If you have AVAST already installed on your computer, there is no need to install a second or third anti-spyware software. AVAST is a good software, and you will just slow down your computer by installing a second anti-spyware software.

My Dell Optiplex 755 crashes and the cursor freezes. Control, alt, delete keys do not affect it. I turn off the computer with the hard drive button. When not crashing and I try to shut down, I get an error message about one or both of the following: ccSvcHst and ccSvcHst.exe. These programs are not responding, so I tell it to end program. Then the computer shuts down and restarts itself 15 or 20 minutes later.

I looked on line to find out what ccSvcHst…. is, and found two sources for corrections. 1.Download PC Health Advisor Ccsychst.exe Repair Software
and 2. Error Scantools’ Registry Scan Tool. I don’t know if either of these sources for downloads are safe.

I spent an hour and a half with Dell day before yesterday trying to fix the problem. Went into Safe mode, ran diagnostics, and everything passed.

Will Spybot address these problems? If not, what do you suggest?

    Hey Chris,

Hook the busted PC’s hard drive up externaly to a good PC and then do a scan. The best way to detect something is when its not running.

There are simple inexpensive adapters that you can get for any hard drive that enable you to simply hook it up via USB if you dont want to bother with hooking the infected hard drive up inside your good PC.

I am trying to remove security tools on my fathers pc. It is an extremely persistent virus that keeps shutting the computer down. When I attempt to download spydoctor and spybot but I cannot get past the second stage of the run process. It seems that his computer is doomed forever. Lots of advice required. I’ve tried all the tips on the internet but the virus appears to block all attempts I make. Even when I get somewhere the computer shuts down.

I downloaded a keylogger and trying to remove it from my computer. I have (one) winlogon.exe on my processes tab. I learned that is ok. But I also have wininit.exe. I dont know if this is bad or good. If you know any process that allows me to know I am still keylogged let me know. I have quarntined the actual trojan.. But everytime I do a scan i get this cookie to come up and its a trackware cookie. Am I still in trouble?

    • admin says:

I would simply download the free trial version of Spyware Doctor (at the top of this web page) and run a full scan. It will find any active keylogger and alert you, if it finds anything.

I am a little scared to download anything at this time because I am worried that I will get another virus. How can I be sure this is legit? Yes I do see all of the testimonials, but still not so sure?!

    • admin says:

It is good that you are careful. There is a lot of junk software out there.

However, you may relax a little by reading the PCMAG.com review of Spyware Doctor. It says that:

“Spyware Doctor with AntiVirus 2010 adds numerous new “guards” against malware and promises enhanced malware detection and cleanup—and delivers. This product, our new Editors’ Choice, broke records in my malware-removal and malware-blocking tests.”

Let me know if you have further questions.

I have been using Spybot search and destroy for years after its recommendation in Consumer reports. After moving recently, and trying to get online again, I find I am getting a lot of pop-ups from something called Security Warning that tells me that Spybot downloads are infected and will not let me run the scans. It also will not let me into Remove Programs, so that I could just eliminate this Security Warning software and use the system that I prefer. Security Warning just wants me to pay $79.95 for their service, and I do not want to do business with them. But what do I do to get Spybot to run its scans and service?

    • admin says:

I do not use Spybot software, since it is not a complete protection against spyware. I would download and install Spyware Doctor software from the top this web page, and try it to see if you like Spyware Doctor better than Spybot. —

Let me know how you go.

      -Nils (admin)

      • Chris Brdlik says:

        Nils –

I would love to try Spyware Doctor, but whatever it is that has infected my computer (“Security Tool”, I don’t know where it came from) will not let me run it. I have downloaded Doctor several times, but Security Tool says it is infected, and won’t let me run the scan.

Is Spyware Doctor compatible with Microsoft Security Essentials?
Also, based on consistent advice for removing ThinkPoint, found at multiple sites, I installed Malwarebytes to remove it, but also was advised to use additional antimalware programs in concert, such as SUPERAntiSpyware – will Malwarebytes or other programs conflict with Spyware Doctor?

    • admin says:

I do not recommend running and using more than one anti-spyware software, since each new memory resident program will slow down your computer.

Install the free Spyware Doctor trial and see if you like it. If you do not like it, the software will uninstall as easily as it installs.

  • Disappointed says:

After using Spybot and removing the spyware, I lost my internet connection and could never connect ever since rebooting that time. I was gonna donate $10 if Spybot would rid my system clean of the obvious parasites I had that kept slowing me down and causing random halts and crashes, but now I demand to know why it had to do this, at the very wrong time as well. I need my home internet connection, and the spyware was nothing compared to this. It never stopped me from having a connection.

If the creator of Spybot wants to respond, respond with an email so we can discuss this privately.

    • admin says:

We are not the creator or author of Spybot or Spyware Doctor.

However, you can contact Spybot for tech support for help with the Spybot software. I also strongly suggest you try to download the free Spyware Doctor and do a full scan to see what it can find for you. It is the better software of the two, in my humble opinion.

My browser is suddenly sending emails to everyone in my address book with a link. What can I use to get rid of this?

  • Robin says:

Can I download and run spybot when I have Norton’s running. I just purchased it a week ago so I don`t really want to dump it, but am thinking I have picked up some spyware recently. Thanks!

    • admin says:

I do not recommend installing or downloading more than 1 anti-spyware software.

Each time you install a memory resident software – like Spybot or Spyware Doctor – you are loading your computer with extra work and slowing down the startup process.

If you are not sure which software to use, just install one at a time, but make sure to uninstall the software you are not planning to use. This makes your computer snappier and faster for other things.

Before running Spy-bot I am warned that three of my other bad guy programs may be identified as bad guys. If you can identify the program why can’t you leave them alone or at least give me the option of marking them not to be searched?
Your treating these programs inappropriately can cost me several hundred dollars.
    Thanks.

I’m looking for a program that can shred data that was stored on my PC. In particular, I have sensitive data that was sent by email. I want to delete the email, and then make sure the deleted files are not retriveable. Will this software do this? Any suggestions?

    Many Thanks,

    • admin says:

You can read more about why files are not always removed – even if you delete your files here:

      File Recovery and File Shredder

This web site has some good information on how you can use a program called File Shredder to securely wipe your files. Scroll down towards the end of the referenced web page to see reference to File Shredder.

    • admin says:

@ Dr. William: The program I use for file shredding is called Eraser. It is completely free and works great. You can download a free copy of ERASER here:

Do you have a USB memory stick?

If you have problems with internet on the infected computer, I suggest you download the Spyware Doctor on another computer to your USB memory stick, and then copy it over to the infected computer and run it.

  • Dan mead says:

I have kaspersky internrt security can I install spyware doctor at the same ? Thanks Dan

    • admin says:

You can install both, but I do not recommend it, as it will slow down your computer when both anti-spyware software is checking the files each time you open or copy files/documents. You may never noticed the slowdown with only one anti-spyware software installed, but installing 2 will make you computer sluggish. I assume you do not want this.

A better solution is to install both softwares and choose which one you like best and uninstall the second anti-spyware software.

Spybot Search & Destroy software does many good things, but I have some questions if it is a complete anti-virus software. I personally use Spyware Doctor with anti-virus (downloadable on this page) for complete protection against all computer infections – including virus and spyware. You need protection against both type of infections.

My home computer internet access has suddenly slowed down over the last few weeks, I am sending this from my work office. I live way out in a rural area served by Qwest DSL. They say they guarantee 1.5 mb/s access. http://WWW.Speedtest.net shows a slower connection.

A friend suggested Spybot, but it appears to be for PC only.

I have an iMac. Is there anything I can run to purge possible spy/adware?

I am in the midst of a problem: Something has got onto my PC and destroyed my Spybot exe file. Also something has prevented me from re-installing it from a new download. It (or its little friends), redirects my browsers (Opera and Firefox) to sites other than I have requested. My technician has spent hours trying to eradicate the problem without success and Ad-Aware Pro, after doing a bootup scan has dealt with some corrupted files but not this problem.

    What can I do?

Have your tried installing Spyware Doctor software, available for download on this web page?

After you install Spyware Doctor, just run the completely free scan that will tell you within a couple of minutes if your computer has problems.

Also, when you have completed the cleanup by using Spyware Doctor, I recommend that you download and run a registry cleaner software, for example Registry Mechanic to see if there is anything wrong with your Windows Registry file. This is one of the most important system files on your computer, but sometimes needs to be cleaned and repaired.

Just download the free trial of spyware doctor and do a full scan. It should be able to find any computer infections on your PC.

I personally do not use spybot software, as I find it is not always able to do a complete job. I like Spyware Doctor software better.
